This Just In: St. Patrick's Four Convicted of Lesser Charges, Acquitted of Conspiracy

Ithaca Journal:

St. Patrick's Four verdict in

BINGHAMTON -- Four Ithaca residents this morning were found innocent of conspiracy -- but convicted of three lesser charges -- in a March 2003 blood-spilling incident in a Tompkins County Army recruiting station.

The defendants, known as the "St. Patrick's Four" because the incident occurred on St. Patrick's Day, had been on trial for a week in Federal Court in Binghamton. Daniel Burns, Peter DeMott, Clare Grady and Teresa Grady were acquitted of conspiring to impede a federal officer, but convicted of damaging federal property.

Conviction on the conspiracy charge could have carried a six-year prison sentence and a $250,000 fine.
