One place where the economy is not failing is Obama merchandise. Vendors in DC are doing a brisk business selling Obama t-shirts, hats, pins and other ephemera. I keep seeing TV ads for Obama plates and coins. And there will be plenty of coffee table books like this one.

It's not like anyone out there is clamoring for the George W. Bush coffee table books, anyway.

New Obama Ad: "Tested"

McCain's mortgage plan would force us the taxpayers to buy bad bank loans at full value -- no matter what the value of the property is. So if a bank loaned a homeowner $300,000 to buy a house that's now worth $200,000, we the taxpayers would pay $300,000 to the bank for a $200,000 house. Net profit to the crooked bank: $100,000; same net loss to us. A terrible plan. I don't think this ad explains it very well.

Ignorance Is Bliss, and Filled with Hate

Pretty amazing video of people attending a McCain-Palin rally in Strongsville, Ohio with much ignorance and hatred on display. Several people call Obama a terrorist, and one man even calls him a one-man terror cell. I wouldn't watch more than once; it makes me feel dirty.

These are people at a McCain-Palin rally; that's not what everyone in Ohio thinks. Evidence here:

If John McCain is suspending his campaign, why is he giving his campaign speech (being shown uninterrupted on CNN, the stupid news network) at the Clinton Global Initiative?

Oh, yeah, it's a transparent political stunt. I forgot.

Editor & Publisher: UPDATE: The Case of the Missing 'Post' Posting (Probably) Solved!

It looked like 1) just a technical glitch or hacking 2) the usual case of a news outlet pulling back a story to do more checking 3) someone pushed a button too early on a story being held for a later date 4) a bombshell report was killed because of pressure from a presidential campaign 5) none of the above.

We still don't know for certain, but The Washington Post says it had something to do with an unedited caption to a video that should not have gone up. But what about the video itself? And a separate documents file?

So John McCain is (predictably, perhaps) attacking Barack Obama for speaking at a political gathering outside the country.

This, of course, is the same John McCain who held a political event in Ottawa at the Economic Club of Canada just one month ago.

This is the same John McCain who held a campaign fundraiser in London in March.

This is the same John McCain who is quoting Fidel Castro in an attack on Barack Obama.

This is the same John McCain who has quoted Hamas on the campaign trail in another attack on Barack Obama.

This is the same John McCain who has repeatedly used the words of Osama bin Laden to attack not just Barack Obama, but also Hillary Clinton and the entire Democratic Party.

This is a sad, desperate, and pathetic John McCain.
