John McCain Says Obama Needs to Go to Iraq

McCain says Obama can't talk about Iraq until he goes there.

Can we really afford another Shorja Market Moment? 100 armed soldiers, 2 Apache gunships, and 3 Blackhawk helicopters to shepherd Obama through some pre-cleared area for 10 minutes?

Or maybe he can go on the cheap, like George W. Clusterfuck, or Dickhead Cheney, or Condolizard, have Obama make a "surprise" visit to Iraq, land at some American airstrip 20 miles of barbed wire and tanks from any actual Iraqis, review a few lines of dusty troops, and on his way again?

I don't think Obama should do anything McCain dares him to do. When McCain went to Shorja Market and pretended it was safe, 21 Iraqis were abducted from the market and executed the very next day. If Obama does go, he should wait until the nomination is his, and go there with some real soldiers, maybe Wesley Clark and Jim Webb.

Spent the day assembling my taxes, my least favorite task of the year. During the afternoon I watched Dice-K's stellar debut for the Red Sox. It was just Kansas City (though they've had the Sawx's number the past few years) but he looked pretty impressive. John McCain took his heavily armored little walk in Baghdad's Shorja Market on Sunday then proclaimed:

“Things are better. There are encouraging signs,”

Yes, Johnny Mac feels safe while wearing a flak jacket, surrounded by 100 armed men and five combat helicopters.

The 21 Shorja Market workers who were ambushed and executed yesterday didn't feel quite so safe. They aren't encouraged at all. They're just dead, more wasted lives on the altar of the Madness of King George and all his preening sycophantic courtiers like St. John McCain and his Bullshit Express.

The 21 Shiites, together with six Kurdish colleagues still missing, worked in Baghdad's popular Shorja market where 60 people were killed in a double suicide bombing targeting Shiites last Thursday. Medics said their handcuffed and blindfolded bodies were found near a water-treatment plant in the village of Morariyah after daybreak.
